Magento Maintenance Mode provides an easy way to restrict access to the frontend of your store during periods of maintenance. Logged in administrators and IP addresses on the whitelist can still access the frontend, so that any development taken place on the site can be completed. IP address whitelisting is extremely flexible in that you can enable whole IP blocks. Maintenance page is fully customizable.
